Membership
The SCHA is an organization which furthers the teaching and understanding of history. The only requirement for membership is an interest in, and a love for, history. Current members include students, high school teachers, college faculty, librarians, archivists, curators, public historians, and history buffs.

At the Annual Meeting papers on World, United States, Southern, and of course, South Carolina history are routinely presented. Moreover, sessions on wide-ranging types of history, including public history and pedagogy are standard. Graduate students, undergraduate students supported by a mentor, public historians, and independent historians are all welcome to join the SCHA and present at the conference.

Membership benefits include:
• A vote in elections and on issues presented to membership
Supporting the SCHA, which in turn has supported historical research since 1931
The Journal of the South Carolina Historical Association, the institution's refereed journal
• Notification of the Annual Meeting and other updates from the SCHA

• The right to present at the annual conference (you must be a member of the SCHA to present, moderate, or commentate at the annual conference.)
• 30% discount at University of South Carolina Press

Valuable opportunities to network, practice, contribute, and lead within a long-standing non-profit, academic organization
